Support Services

Medical Administration

Medical administration supports a number of areas of the hospital, from maintaining records of admissions and discharges to creating and filing of patient records as well as secretarial support to all the medical staff.   A key role of medical administration relates to the Admissions Department.

Admissions

Complex Continuing Care

The Royal Hospital Donnybrook is part of the new Fair Deal Scheme which came into operation on 27th October 2009. More information regarding the scheme can be obtained from www.dohc.ie

When the hospital receives a CSAR Form (Common Summary Assessment Report) from the Local Placement Forum, the Medical Director and a member of the nursing staff will visit and assess the applicant.   If they are found to be suitable both from a medical and nursing perspective then the admission process can be arranged, pending bed availability.

Anyone wishing to visit the hospital to see the facilities available may do so by making arrangements through Medical Administration.   They may meet with the Medical Director or other relevant personnel on that day also if they are available.

Adult Continuing Care & Adult Continuing Rehabilitation

Application forms for assessment for this unit are available from the Medical Administration Office.   They are completed by the applicant (if able to do so) or their next of kin and by the referring doctors. The Medical Director and a member of the nursing staff will assess each applicant and make a decision as to their suitability for the hospital. An assessment day with the multidisciplinary team may also be arranged before a final decision to admit is made.

Adult Rehabilitation

Admissions to these beds are via the Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine.   The Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine will decide if an applicant has potential for rehabilitation.   Prior to possible admission, an assessment day is arranged where all members of the multidisciplinary team meet with the applicant and a final decision is made.
