Visiting Hours

In general, visitors are welcomed at any reasonable time but some areas, such as the rehabilitation units, have more restricted visiting (see wards for details).  We do ask that all visitors avoid meal times and therapy sessions.

All visitors should leave the hospital by ten o’clock at night.  Alternative arrangements to the above should be agreed with the Clinical Nurse Manager on the unit in advance.

The main hospital doors are closed from 21:00 to 07:00; however, a security person is available to greet visitors after hours, if needed.

We ask that all visitors please observe the following:

  • Use hand hygiene facilities as available when entering and exiting the main hospital building and hospital units;
  • Consider other patients'/residents’ needs for rest and privacy;
  • Have consideration for staff doing their job;
  • Please comply with any request to leave the patient's/resident’s room to facilitate care;
  • Comply with any requests for no visitors or restricted visiting;
  • Observe confidentiality - you may see or hear things of a private and confidential nature;
  • Visitors are requested not to visit if personally unwell, e.g. sore throat, flu, have had any symptoms of vomiting or diarrhoea, or have had contact with someone with these symptoms within 72 hours;
  • Help keep our hospital clean and inform staff of any cleaning concerns;
  • Ensure any visiting children are supervised at all times and are never left on a unit unaccompanied;
  • Be responsible for the safety and security of your belongings;
  • Comply with infection control instructions that may be implemented at various times;
  • Refrain from touching dressings, drips, catheters, etc.
  • Always enter and exit the hospital through the main entrance doors or as specified;
  • Filming/photography or the use of camera phones is not permitted in patient/resident areas;
  • Do not sit/lie on beds;
  • Do not access unauthorised areas, e.g. Kitchens;
  • Toilets in clinical areas are for patient/resident use only, please ask to be directed to the nearest public toilet;
  • Follow hospital car parking regulations;
  • Do not visit while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs;
  • Do not smoke on the hospital grounds.
